Ingredients

500g lean ground beef (we used 10% fat)

1 onion, finely chopped

3 cloves garlic, minced

400g crushed tomatoes

400g tomato sauce

2 tablespoons tomato puree

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried basil

Salt and black pepper, to taste

85g Lactose-Free Butter
-
85g Plain Flour
-
750ml Lactose-Free Milk
-
about 400g Lasagne Sheets

240g (2 Cups) Mature Cheddar Cheese

Directions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook until the onion is soft. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for about 15-20 minutes.
In a separate saucepan, melt lactose-free margarine over medium heat. Stir in flour to create a roux. Gradually whisk in lactose-free milk. Add ground nutmeg, salt, and black pepper. Cook until the sauce thickens.
In a baking dish, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce. Place a layer of cooked lasagne noodles on top. Add a layer of the meat sauce, followed by a layer of lactose-free bechamel sauce. Sprinkle with lactose-free mature cheddar cheese. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of cheese on top.
Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
Remove from the oven, let it rest for a few minutes, and garnish with chopped fresh basil or parsley.
