Ingredients
-
900g Potatoes
-
½ tbsp Flour
-
½ tbsp Salt
-
Pinch of Pepper
-
2 tbsp Onion Powder
-
Oil for frying
Directions
Cut the potatoes in fourths and parboil them in a generous amount of water to cover
Allow to cool to the point you can handle them.
Grate the potatoes using the large holes of a grater and transfer them to a bowl.
Add the flour, salt, pepper, and finely chopped onion to the grated potatoes. Gently mix until well combined.
Let the mixture stand for about 5 minutes.
Heat the oil to 355-360°F (180-182°C) in a deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pot.
Using 1 ½ teaspoons of the potato mixture for each tot, gently shape them into the classic tater tots shape.
Fry the tots in batches, a few at a time, in the hot oil until they are golden brown and crispy.
Remove the tots from the oil and drain them on absorbent paper towels before serving.
